Heartflame Garden is a private garden located at 650 Sandy Bottom Road near Elkton Virginia, adjacent to Shenandoah National Park, and is the home of Inanna and Gabriel Garretson. It is a lovely 3 season display garden with about 1.5 acres of cultivated gardens and another 5 acres of rolling hills and streams to explore. Our garden will open May 1 … by appointment…meaning call first before coming… through October 31st. In addition, we also have certain times throughout the season for “open” days when an appointment is not required. Last year we had over 300 visitors... we look forward to your return visit this year!!
During 2019, our Open Garden Days will be : May 19, June 30, July 7, and Oct 13 from 1pm to 6pm on Sunday. On these days the garden is open to all, with no prior appointment needed.
During the rest of the season, visiting is welcome, but please call first, to schedule a time that works for all.
We are also happy to be part of the Artisan Trail Network for Rockingham County and welcome visitors by appointment.
We also welcome group visits... Master Gardeners... Garden Clubs... University Groups... Senior Centers... Social & Church groups... all garden lovers are welcome... just call to schedule a group visit.
People often ask when is the best time to visit. Every two weeks from April 15th, the garden will change rather dramatically. It is hard to believe the garden you see in May is the same garden in August. If you are hoping to see a particular plant in bloom…don’t hesitate to call first and ask what’s blooming.
Hats and/or umbrellas are appreciated once here for we do have gnats in the mountains. Also, if you come before noon, the blooms are spectacular but the grass is usually wet…so wear shoes that can take it.
